Griffins get first PAC win

ASTON, PA - Senior Melissa Burks (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) netted six goals, including five in the second half to help Gwynedd-Mercy to a 16-12 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference victory over Neumann Monday afternoon.

Junior Caitlin Volz (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added three tallies while senior Kaitlin Pope (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) recorded two goals and two assists for Gwynedd (2-1, 1-0 PAC).

A 9-2 goal spurt to start the second half opened up a close game as the teams were deadlocked at 4-4 at halftime.

Courtney Murray had three scores and an assist for the Knights (0-1, 0-1 PAC).

The Griffins host Immaculata in PAC action this Wednesday here in the home opener. Game time is 4 p.m.
