GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA - A late push came up short for
Gwynedd-Mercy as the Griffins had their six-game win streak snapped
as Cabrini posted a 13-10 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference victory
over the Griffins on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Lauren Sheils (Hanover, Md./Archbishop
Spaulding) led GM with three goals and an assist. Senior Kaitlin
Pope (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and junior Caitlin
Volz (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) each added two scores
apiece.
The teams kept tabs on one another in the first
half as Gwynedd (9-3, 7-2 PAC) had four one-goal leads. The Cavs
netted three-straight to close the period to turn a 5-4 deficit
into a 9-7 edge at halftime.
From there Cabrini (10-2, 7-0 PAC) scored four of
the next five goals in the game to increase their lead to 11-6.
Katelyn Penrose's sixth goal of the game at the
13:07 mark for a 12-8 lead was the last goal over the next 10 minutes
for both teams.
The Griffins added two quick goals with under a
minute left in the game but could pull no closer than three.
Gwynedd will play at Kean on Tuesday in a non-league
affair starting at 7 p.m.
