Griffins outscore Eagles, 11-4 in second half

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA - Gwynedd-Mercy used an eight-goal spurt in the second half to rally and pull away from visiting Bridgewater (Va.), 14-11, in the regular-season finale Saturday afternoon.

The Griffins scored 11 goals total in the second period after being down 7-3 at halftime.

Seniors Kaitlin Pope (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and Melissa Burks (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton), along with junior Meg Volz (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood), and freshman Lauren Sheils (Hanover, Md./Archbishop Spaulding) each scored three times apiece for GM (11-4).

Down 10-7, Gwynedd then held the Eagles scoreless over the next 16 minutes before
Bridgewater's Abby Morris scored with 3:14 left in the game.

Gwynedd has clinched the #3 seed in next week's PAC Tournament and will host a home game here next Saturday with an opponent and time TBA.
