Griffins picked sixth in pre-season poll
Eastern claims top spot
ASTON, PA. -- Eastern University’s field hockey team has been selected as the pre-season favorite in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) coaches’ poll. The defending champion Eagles received six of eleven first-place votes and earned a total of 116 points in the poll to slightly edge out Alvernia College, which received five first-place votes and a total of 115 points.
Misericordia University was slotted third by the coaches in the poll. The Cougars tallied 96 points. Cabrini College and Neumann College were next with 83 points apiece.
Gwynedd-Mercy College (62), Marywood University (56), Immaculata University (47), Cedar Crest College (32), College of Notre Dame (22) and Rosemont College (14) rounded out the voting.
The 2007 PAC Championship begins with first-round play on Saturday, October 27th. The PAC Championship game is set for Saturday, November 3rd.
