Griffins win 4th in a row, down Macs on Senior Day

Box Score

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – Gwynedd-Mercy won its fourth-straight game with a 3-1 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference win over Immaculata on Senior Day.

Early first-half goals from junior Victoria Geppert (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) and senior Mary Gerth (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) helped build a 2-0 halftime lead. Freshman Rachel Collier (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) made it 3-0 with her tally midway in the second stanza before the IU’s Anastasia Likanchuk scored with just over 11 minutes in the game to help the Macs (3-10, 3-4 PAC) avoid the shutout.

The Griffins (9-5, 4-3 PAC) dominated in shots on goal, 21-4, and held a 13-3 penalty corner edge, including eight in the second half.

Prior to the game, the squad’s five seniors along with their parents were honored by the coaching staff and team. They include Gerth, Jessica Griffin (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills), Steph Atkinson (Bridgeport, N.J./Kingsway), Ashley Blackwell (Mohrsville, Pa./Schuylkill Valley), and Kate Loftus (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert’s).

Gwynedd returns to action on Tuesday as they face nationally-ranked Lebanon Valley in Annville, Pa.

Pre-game ceremonies honored the team's five seniors and their families.
