GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. - Sophomore Ashley Blackwell
(Mohrsville, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) and junior Janine Reiner
(Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) netted two goals apiece to help
lead Gwynedd-Mercy to a 4-2 win over Marywood Saturday afternoon
in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference game.
Tied 1-1 at halftime and again at 2-2 midway in
the second half, Reiner sent a laser shot just inside the circle
for the eventual game winner with 3:36 remaining. Blackwell added
an insurance goal a minute later with an assist from freshman Victoria
Geppert (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge).
Reiner now has scored in three straight games for
the Griffins who evened their record at 5-5 overall and improve
to 4-2 in conference play.
Kate Acheson scored twice for the Pacers (0-9, 0-5
PAC), who were outshot 23-5. Marywood keeper Stephanie Ziemski recorded
18 saves.
GMC goalie Lauren Monte (Perkasie, Pa./Christopher
Dock) made four stops.
Gwynedd-Mercy hosts Moravian in a non-league game
this Monday, September 26th at 4 p.m.
