Second-half rally sparks Griffins to first PAC win

IMMACULATA, PA. - Gwynedd-Mercy scored four-second
half goals to comeback and defeat Immaculata, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon
in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference game.
Faced with a 2-0 halftime
deficit, freshman Erin Reedy (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) and
sophomore Ashley Blackwell (Mohrsville, Pa./Schyukill Valley)
scored less than two minutes apart early in the second half to tie
the contest.
Junior Erin Hill (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford)
gave the Griffins (2-4, 1-1 PAC) a brief 3-2 lead with her goal
in the 52nd minute. The Mighty Macs (1-5, 0-2 PAC) tied it at 3-3
just three minutes later on a goal from Jenn Norris.
Gwynedd got the eventual game-winning goal from
freshman Nicole Dowling (Jamison, Pa./C.B. South) with an
assist from junior Melissa Burks (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton)
with less than 10 minutes left in regulation.
Junior goalie Kaitlin Pope (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop
Wood) made two saves in the first half and sophomore Lauren Monte
(Perkasie, Pa./Christopher Dock) added two stops in the second
half for the Griffins.
Gwynedd-Mercy takes on Neumann in Aston, Pa. this
Thursday, September 15th in PAC action starting at 4 p.m.
