Tranchitella wins PAC Championship
Sophomore first Griffin winner since 2002; both squads place third

PHILADELPHIA – Sophomore Alycia Tranchitella (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Huberts) became the first PAC Women’s Champion since Colleen Farrell in 2002 as both the women’s and men’s team each placed third at the conference championships Saturday afternoon.

Senior Lisa Smedley (Warrington, Pa./C.B. East) finished third for Gwynedd. Marywood won their fifth-straight women’s championship.

R.J. Every (Harleysville, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) was the top men’s finisher, placing fourth overall. Six other Griffin runners placed in the top 20.

Cabrini’s Ed Penetar helped the Cavs unseat defending champion Misericordia as he was winner of the men’s race.

For their finishes, Tranchitella, Smedley, and Every were named First-Team All-PAC.
