Griffins sweep team titles at Dukes Invitational
Team efforts on both sides help GM win first races of the season

VINELAND,
N.J. -- Gwynedd-Mercy took the men's and women's team titles at the Dukes Invitational hosted by Cumberland County College.
Sophomore Alycia
Tranchitella (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Huberts) was second overall in the women's race, and senior
Lisa Smedley (Warrington, Pa./C.B. East) and freshman Victoria English (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) all finished in the top 10 racers. Junior Christine Harrison (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast), senior Katie Mehaffey (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Huberts), sophomore Rachael Wooldridge (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy), and freshman Julie Glendinning (Doylestown, Pa./C.B. East) placed in the top 20.
On the men's side, sophomore Dan Geary (Hatfield, Pa./Lansdale Catholic), and R.J. Every (Harleysville, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) were top 10 finishers while Mike Pflueger (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), John Watts (Woodlyn, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) , and Jason Robustelli (Lewiston, Me./Lewiston) all were in the final 25 runners to help secure the men's team title.
Both teams are back at it next weekend at the University of Delware Invitational, where the Griffins will compete with Division I schools.
