Griffin squads compete at NCAA Regionals
Teams race in qualifying meet for the second-straight year

WAYNESBURG, PA. - The Gwynedd-Mercy Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams participated at the NCAA Mideast Regional for the second year in a row. The event was hosted by Waynesburg College Saturday afternoon.

The men's team finished 25th overall of 39 teams and over 268 runners. Senior Kevin Bunt (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) was the top male Griffin finisher, placing 101st in a time of 29:06 on the 8K course.

Freshman Alycia Tranchitella (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Huberts) helped lead the women's team to a 27th place finish out of 41 teams as she placed 64th. Freshman Lisa Smedley (Warrington, Pa./C.B. East) also fiinished just out of the top 100 runners, coming in 107th place. The 6K women's race featured 281 competitors.

Haverford claimed the men's overall team title while Dickinson were the women's team champs.
