Big second half propels Griffins over Scarlet

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA - Gwynedd-Mercy shot 61% in the
second half and held Rutgers-Camden to 22 points in the period as
the Griffins won their 15th game in a row in an 83-46 non-league
win over the Scarlet Raptors Monday night.
Junior Beccie Strohecker (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham)
led GM with 15 points and senior Jackie Dougherty
(Roslyn, Pa./Abington) added 11 points for Gwynedd (22-2).
The Griffins led just 29-24 at the half and were
up 31-28 early in the second. Dougherty hit two of her three-pointers
during a 22-4 run over an eight minute span to help open a double-digit
lead.
Imani Hafiz netted 16 points for the Scarlet Raptors
(8-15), who dropped their fourth-straight. Karen Carter chipped
in 14 point while Krystal Jankowski pulled down 21 boards for Rutgers-Camden.
Gwynedd hit six of their nine treys in the second
stanza and forced 25 turnovers which led to 27 points.
The Griffins will close out the regular season this
Thursday against Cedar Crest at home on senior night. Tipoff is
slated for 6 p.m.
