Griffins picked as the favorite in women's basketball
Team earns 11 of 12 first-place votes
ASTON, PA. - The Gwynedd-Mercy College Women's Basketball
Team has been selected as the pre-season favorite in the Pennsylvania
Athletic Conference (PAC) coaches' poll. The defending PAC champion
Griffins received eleven of twelve first-place votes and earned
143 points in the poll.
"Being named pre-season #1 is a great honor
for Gwynedd-Mercy College and our student-athletes," Gwynedd-Mercy
head coach Keith Mondillo said. "With the ranking comes high
expectations and knowing the quality of the other programs in the
PAC, I know how hard we have to work to become #1 at the end of
the season."
The Griffins finished 25-4 and 16-0 in league play
last season, en route to winning their fourth PAC Championship and
appearing in their sixth NCAA Tournament.
GM will open the season Saturday, November 18th
at the Kean University Tournament.
The 2007 Women's Basketball PAC Championship will
kick off first round action on Monday, February 19th, with the live
webstreaming title game slated for Saturday, February 24th.
