Griffins to play in 10th-straight PAC Championship

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA - Gwynedd-Mercy will advance
to its 10th-straight Pennsylvania Athletic Conference title game
as the top-seeded Griffins used four starters in double figures
in an 81-60 win over fifth-seeded Neumann Wednesday night.
Gwynedd will take on second-seeded Cabrini, who
defeated Alvernia in tonight's other semifinal, this Saturday night
at 7 p.m. for the PAC Championship and the league's automatic NCAA
Tournament berth.
Kristy Cramp (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley)
led all scorers with 20 points as the sophomore hit six three-pointers
on the night. Seniors Jackie Dougherty (Roslyn, Pa./Abington)
and Ashley Vandiver (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) each added
15 points apiece while junior Karen Tierney (Philadelphia/Kennedy-Kenrick)
chipped in 12.
Up 25-24, Gwynedd (24-2) used a 9-0 run over a four
minute span to end the first half and put them up 10 at the break.
The Griffins extended the lead hitting back-to-back treys to open
the second half and did not look back, keeping a double-digit lead
the rest of the way.
Brittany Whetts led the Knights (18-9) with 16 points
and 11 boards.
Gwynedd went to the line 43 times and hit 28 free-throws,
both season highs, and held a 52-35 rebound edge.
