Slow second half dooms Griffins in loss; Kramp, Vandiver named to All-Tournament Team

UNION, N.J. - Gwynedd-Mercy scored just 14 points in the second half en route to a 72-42 loss to Kean in the championship game of the 2006 Kean University Tip-Off Tournament.

The Griffins (1-1) trailed just by two, 30-28 at the half, but a 22-0 run by the Cougars (2-0) to start the second stanza put Gwynedd in a deficit they could not dig out of.

Junior Alana Rumpel (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic) led GM with 10 points off the bench.

Chari' Cooper led all players with 13 points and 16 rebounds. Tournament MVP Melissa Beyruti added 12.

Sophomore Kristy Cramp (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley) and senior Ashley Vandiver (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Gwynedd-Mercy returns to action on Monday, November 27th with a non-league contest at King's College starting at 7 p.m.
