Griffins extend win streak to five games

RADNOR, PA. - Karen Tierney (Philadelphia,
Pa./Kennedy-Kenrick) surpassed her career-high with 23 points to
help lead Gwynedd-Mercy over Cabrini, 78-66, in a matchup of unbeaten
Pennsylvania Athletic Conference teams Thursday evening.
Tierney's previous mark was 22 set on November 27th
in a win at King's. For the game she was 8-of-11 including a perfect
3-for-3 from beyond the arc. The guard also had five assists, five
steals, and five rebounds to help GM win its fifth-straight.
Both squads entered the night without a loss in
league play (5-0).
Senior Jackie Dougherty (Roslyn, Pa./Abington)
notched her second double-double of the season collecting 11 points
and 10 boards. Sophomore Kristy Cramp (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell
Valley) added 16.
Tierney's 13 first-half points helped build a 44-30
GM lead at the break.
Gwynedd (12-2, 6-0 PAC) led by double-digits for
most of the stanza before the Cavs (9-5, 5-1 PAC) pulled within
71-66 with just under a minute left. The Griffins put the game out
of reach scoring the next eight points to end the contest including
a 6-for-6 stint at the free-throw line.
Kayleen Smith led the Cavs with 12 points. Deana
DiAmico chipped in 11.
