Griffins remain unbeaten in PAC play

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. - Four players in double figures
helped lift Gwynedd-Mercy to an 80-48 win over Arcadia Saturday
afternoon in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action at the Griffin
Complex.
Jackie Dougherty (Roslyn, Pa./Abington) led
all scorers with 13 points and inched closer to the 1,000-point
plateau for her career. The senior now needs five points to hit
the milestone.
Junior Karen Tierney (Philadelphia, Pa./Kennedy-Kenrick),
sophomore Kristy Cramp (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley),
and freshman Jackie Dooley (Cheltenham, Pa./Cheltenham) all
added in 10 points apiece. Tierney also chipped in nine assists,
three steals, and two blocks.
A 23-6 run midway through the first half, helped
the Griffins (16-2, 10-0 PAC) open up a 52-25 lead at the break.
Caitlin Sparks came off the bench to score 11 points
for the Knights (5-14, 3-7 PAC) who dropped their fourth-straight.
Arcadia shot 38.2% (21-of-55) but committed 26 turnovers, which
led to 35 GM points.
Gwynedd shot 61.1% (22-of-36) in the first half
and 50% (33-of-66) for the contest.
The Griffins close out their four-game homestand
with a PAC date with Alvernia here on Monday starting at 6 p.m.
