Griffins improve to 8-0 in the PAC

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA - A big run to open up the second
half propelled Gwynedd-Mercy over Marywood, 64-41, Saturday afternoon
in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Game.
Junior Jackie Dougherty (Roslyn, Pa./Abington)
led a balanced attack, as she was the only Griffin in double figures,
netting 11 points and adding six assists and three rebounds.
After a 16-7 run to close the first half and go
up 36-23 at the break, the Griffins (14-3, 8-0 PAC) kept the momentum
to start the second stanza. Senior Allison Gray's (Norristown,
Pa./Kennedy-Kenrick) jumper gave capped a 17-4 run and gave Gwynedd
a 53-27 edge with just over 14 minutes remaining in the game. Gray
totaled four points and a team-high and season-high seven boards.
Caity Hadzimichalis led the Pacers (4-14, 1-8 PAC)
with a game-high 14 points. Lauren Sheakoski and Kaelyn Brudnok
added 10 points apiece as Marywood dropped their sixth straight.
Gwynedd shot 26-of-57 (45.6%) for the game including
a 10-for-21 (47.6%) stint from downtown. GM outrebounded the Pacers,
43-28.
The Griffins host Arcadia University on Monday,
January 30th here in PAC action starting at 7 p.m.
