Big second-half spark helps Griffins stay unbeaten in the PAC

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Freshman Bridget Morrin
(Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) poured in a game-high 20 points
off the bench to help Gwynedd-Mercy to its fifth-straight win in
an 83-59 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference win over Immaculata Saturday
afternoon.
She was one of four Griffins in double figures to
help GM (11-2, 6-0 PAC) stay undefeated in league play.
Immaculata (8-3, 4-1 PAC) took an early 13-5 lead
and again with the score 31-25 with four minutes before the half,
but the Griffins pushed ahead to lead 36-35 at the break.
In the second stanza, Gwynedd came out on fire,
using a 15-4 run to go up 51-39 with just under 13 minutes to play.
A three pointer from Jillian Chiarantona (Abington, Pa./Gwynedd
Mercy Academy) helped the Griffins to their biggest lead, 71-43,
with seven minutes to go in the game. The senior finished with 11
points, six boards, five assists and five steals.
Freshman Kristy Cramp (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell
Valley) added 14 points while junior Rebecca Frederick (North
Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May) chipped in 10.
Dominique Murray netted 15 points to lead the Mighty
Macs while Nina Cammarano added 10. As a team, Immaculata shot just
32.7% (18-of-55) for the game.
Gwynedd shot 44.4% (32-of-72) in the contest, held
a 41-38 rebound edge, and forced 30 turnovers.
The Griffins play at Albright College on Thursday,
January 19th in non-league action starting at 7 p.m.
