ARLINGTON, VA. - Gwynedd-Mercy captured third place in the 2005 Marymount Tip-Off Tournament by defeating Gettysburg, 75-59, Sunday afternoon.

Senior Jillian Chiarantona (Abington, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) was one of four Griffins to score in double figures with a team-high 16 points. She was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Junior Ashley Vandiver (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and sophomore Karen Tierney (Philadelphia, Pa./Kennedy-Kenrick) each added 13 points and junior Jackie Dougherty (Roslyn, Pa./Abington) chipped 11.

The Griffins (2-1) hit nine three-pointers in the game and shot 13-of-24 (54%) in the second half to down the Bullets (1-2).

Jennifer Bengal scored a game-high 28 points for Gettysburg.

Gwynedd returns to action on Wednesday, November 30th with their first Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Game at Wesley starting at 6 p.m.
