CENTER VALLEY, PA - Ashley Vandiver (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) scored a season-high and game-high 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for her third double-double of the season to lead Gwynedd-Mercy to a 79-60 non-league win at DeSales Monday evening.

The junior forward was 8-of-11 from the floor and scored 18 of her points in the second half as the Griffins opened up a two-point halftime lead.

Junior Jackie Dougherty (Roslyn, Pa./Abington) scored 13 points, sophomore Lauren Healy (Glenmoore, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) added 11 and senior Jillian Chiarantona (Abington, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) chipped in 10 as Gwynedd notched their first ever win over the Bulldogs in 19 tries.

LeighAnn Burke (13 points) was one of four players in double figures for DeSales (9-8). Kim Rarick scored 12 while Kirby Lutz and Amanda Kuperavage each netted 10 apiece.

Despite 16 turnovers and hitting 40.7% (11-of-27) from the floor in the first half, Healy's mid-court steal and layup to beat the buzzer gave the Griffins (13-3) a 30-28 halftime lead.

Junior Ashley Vandiver (32) pulled down a season-best 13 rebounds.

In the second half, Gwynedd used back-to-back buckets inside from senior Allison Gray (Norristown, Pa./Kennedy-Kenrick) to break open an early 37-37 tie, and give them a lead they would not relinquish. From there GM outscored DeSales, 15-5, over the next six minutes to open up a double-digit lead.

Dougherty put the game out of reach as she went in for an uncontested layup off a intercepted pass to give Gwynedd a 68-53 lead with 4:33 in the contest.

The Griffins shot a blistering 56.7% (17-of-30) in the second half. GM also held a 43-24 edge on the glass.

Gwynedd-Mercy will take on Marywood in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference game here at the Griffin Complex this Saturday, January 28th at 2 p.m.
