Cramp named PAC Rookie
of the Year
Three other Griffins honored on all-league squads
ASTON, PA. - Freshman Kristy Cramp (Pennington,
N.J./Hopewell Valley) was named the 2005-06 Pennsylvania Athletic
Conference Rookie of the Year as the league's year-end awards were
announced.
Cramp, a guard, averaged 11.0 points a game. She
is the team's top three-point threat, hitting 41% (66-of-159) from
downtown.
Junior Jackie Dougherty (Roslyn, Pa./Abington),
senior Jillian Chiarantona (Abington, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy),
and sophomore Lauren Healy (Glenmoore, Pa./Owen J. Roberts)
were also honored.
Dougherty notched her second-straight first-team
selection after averaging 11.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists,
and 1.9 steals this season.
Chiarantona was a second-team selection as she averaged
12.2 points and 5.0 boards a contest. She also was dangerous from
behind the arc, connecting on 63 (36% shooting) three-pointers.
Healy garnered an honorable mention spot after averaging
5.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per contest.
Senior Allison Gray (Norristown, Pa./Kennedy-Kenrick)
was named to the PAC Women's Basketball All-Sportsmanship Team.
The Griffins finished with a perfect 16-0 league
mark and will play in the NCAA Tournament, after winning it's fourth
PAC Tournament, this Friday against Richard Stockton on the campus
of the University of Scranton at 5 p.m.
