GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Wesley's Brittany Lundy scored
game-high 28 points to lead the Wolverines past Gwynedd-Mercy, 77-70,
in an exciting Pennsylvania Athletic Conference game Wednesday night
at the Griffin Complex. The loss snaps a five-game winning streak.

Down 73-70, junior Jillian Chiarantona (Abington,
Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy), who scored 18 of her team-high 23 points
in the second half, had a chance to tie it with four seconds left
but her three-point attempt did not fall.
The Wolverine's Tricia Casarotto hit one of two
free throws and Lundy hit a half-court three-pointer after a steal
off an inbounds pass at the buzzer to account for the final score.
Gwynedd-Mercy (13-11, 12-3 PAC) climbed back from
an eight-point first half deficit to trail by one at 29-28 at the
break.
In the second half, which saw seven lead changes,
Casarotto gave Wesley (18-7, 14-2 PAC) it's biggest lead of the
game at 63-54 with 9:10 to play. Casarotto added 19 points and seven
rebounds.
Chiarantona's putback off a miss got the Griffins
within 73-70 with 1:13 remaining. She finished 8-of-17 from the
floor and added four assists.
Sophomore Jackie Dougherty (Roslyn, Pa./Abington)
added 14 points while sophomore Rebecca Frederick (North
Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May) added 12 rebounds. GMC shot 26-of-63
(41%) for the contest.
T'Neisha Turner also scored 19 points and teammate
Robin Smith totaled 11 points and 11 rebounds for Wesley (18-7,
14-2 PAC).
The Griffins play at Cedar Crest on Saturday to
close out the regular season. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m.
