GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy used 15 points
from Lauren Healy (Glenmoore, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) and 11
each from Beccie Strohecker (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham)
and Karen Tierney (Philadelphia, Pa./Kennedy-Kenrick) as
the Griffins downed Neumann, 61-55, Monday night in Pennsylvania
Athletic Conference action.
The win evens the Griffins at 10-10 and raises their
conference mark to 9-2 in the PAC.
Healy scored 13 of her points in the first half
to help GMC to s 32-24 lead at the break.
The Knights (4-15, 2-8 PAC) rallied early in the
second, tying the game twice, the last coming at 12:48 as Nellie
Mixon deadlocked the game at 40-40. Mixon was one of three Knights
who reached double figures in scoring and rebounding.
But Gwynedd-Mercy opened up a 47-46 lead using a
10-0 run capped off by Strohecker's three-point play with 5:43 to
play.
For the game, GMC 25-of-76 (32.9%) and forced 24
Neumann turnovers. The Knights connected on 23-of-70 (32.9%) of
its shots and outreboudned the Griffins, 56-45.
Mixon had 12 points and 12 rebounds while teammates
Sharnine Stokes added 16 points and 10 boards and Kirsten Patton
chipped in 13 points and a game-high 15 boards.
Gwynedd-Mercy will host Arcadia here on Wednesday,
February 9th at 6 p.m.
