McDaniel 61, Gwynedd-Mercy 46
WESTMINSTER, MD. -- No. 24 McDaniel rallied from
a one-point halftime deficit to defeat Gwynedd-Mercy, 61-46, in
non-league action Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins, which led 26-25 at the break, shot
just 25% (7-of-28) in the second half and 31% (19-of-60) for the
contest.
Senior Candice Ober (Swarthmore, Pa./Cardinal
O'Hara) led Gwynedd-Mercy with nine points and 11 rebounds. The
forward also added three assists and blocked a shot.
The Green Terror (6-2) used a 9-1 run to open the
second stanza to pull ahead. But the Griffins pressed to get within
two at 44-42 on Jackie Dougherty's (Rosyln, Pa./Abington)
layup with just over four minutes in regulation. The sophomore finished
with eight points.
McDaniel used another run, this time scoring 10
consecutive points over the next two minutes of play, to put the
game out of reach.
Sara Franz was one of three Green Terror players
in double figures, totaling a game-high 12 points.
The Griffins will host Albright in a non-conference
game Saturday, December 18th at 2 p.m. here at the Griffin Complex..
