King's 67, Gwynedd-Mercy 52

WILKES-BARRE, PA. - No. 23 King's used 15 points each from Kristin Yeasted and Vienna Spitler to help break a one-point halftime lead to defeat Gwynedd-Mercy, 67-52, Wednesday night in non-conference action.

Senior Candie Ober (Swarthmore, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) led the Griffins with 11 points, six rebounds and two blocks.

Gwynedd-Mercy (2-3) trailed 30-29 at the break before being outscored 37-23 in the second half.

Yeasted added a game-high 15 rebounds and Spitler chipped in four steals for the Monarchs (7-0).

Forward Jackie Dougherty (Roslyn, Pa./Abington) was the only other Griffin in double figures, finishing with 10 points. The sophomore also gave out six assists.

As a team, Gwynedd-Mercy shot 40% (20-of-50) but was outrebounded, 42-28.

The squad will take on another ranked opponent on Saturday as they travel to No. 24 McDaniel this Saturday starting at 3 p.m.
