2004 Catholic University Tip-Off Tournament

WASHINGTON - Catholic University defeated Gwynedd-Mercy, 75-56, in the consolation game of the CUA Tip-Off Tournament Saturday afternoon.

Catholic's Lindsay DiRomualdo posted game-highs of 20 points and nine rebounds. She was 6-of-15 shooting including four three-pointers.

Karen Tierney (Philadelphia, Pa./Kennedy-Kenrick) led the Griffins (0-2) with 11 points. The freshman also added five rebounds and three steals. Senior Alexis Boyle (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown) contributed 10 points and seven boards.

The Cardinals (1-1) raced out to a 13-4 lead before extending the advantage to 41-23 at the break. Gwynedd-Mercy shot just 27% in the first stanza compared to Catholic's 40% effort.

For the game, the Griffins shot 33% for the game and were unsuccessful on five tries from beyond the arc. The team was 16-of-30 from the free-throw line and was outrebounded, 45-41.

The squad is back in action next Saturday, November 27th with a non-league game at Delaware Valley starting at 1 p.m.
