Gwynedd-Mercy 62, Cabrini 56
RADNOR, PA. - Gwynedd-Mercy rallied from a 14-point
halftime deficit to defeat Cabrini, 62-56, in a Pennsylvania Athletic
Conference Game.

Junior Jillian Chiarantona (Abington, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy
Academy) and sophomore Jackie Dougherty (Roslyn, Pa./Abington)
added 12 points apiece as GMC improved to 8-2 in the PAC and 9-10
overall.
Down 35-21 at intermission, a 19-7 run to open the
second period helped to spark the big rally. Karen Tierney (Philadelphia,
Pa./Kennedy-Kenrick) capped the comeback, giving the Griffins a
45-43 lead on a three-pointer with 9:23 to play.

The Cavs got within one point on three occasions
in the last 4:20 but free throws from Dougherty and Lauren Healy
(Glenmoore, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) iced the game. The duo went
a combined 6-for-6 from the charity stripe down the stretch.
Dougherty added seven rebounds while Healy recorded
four steals. As a team, the Griffins were 20-of-62 (32.3%) from
the floor but forced 25 Cabrini turnovers.
Sharae Middlebrook led the Cavs (8-11, 7-3 PAC)
with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists. Teammate Erin Shemar
also netted 14 points for Cabrini.
Gwynedd-Mercy hosts Neumann this Monday, February
7th at the Griffin Complex starting at 6 p.m.
