GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Four players finished in
double figures as Gwynedd-Mercy ran past Arcadia, 88-54, Wednesday
night in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action at the Griffin
Complex.
With the win, the Griffins (11-10) surpass the .500
mark for the first time this season and improve their league mark
to 10-2.
Sophomore Jackie Dougherty (Roslyn, Pa./Abington)
led the charge with 15 points. Junior Jillian Chiarantona (Abington,
Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) netted 14, freshman Beccie Strohecker
(Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) 11, and senior Gina Morano
(Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) 10.
Caitlin Sparks scored a game-high 17 points and
added eight rebounds for Arcadia (6-14, 2-10 PAC). Teammate Katie
Lynch chipped in 16 points off the bench.
A 31-2 run to close the first half helped GMC establish
a 46-16 lead at the break.
For the game, the Griffins hit on 51% (37-of-72)
shooting extend their win streak to three games.
Gwynedd-Mercy will host Eastern this Saturday in
PAC action starting at 2 p.m.
