Gwynedd-Mercy 88, Wesley 87
Last second bucket caps mammoth rally

Box Score

GYWNEDD VALLEY, PA. - Haven Wroten (Philadelphia, Pa./Prep Charter) hit a free throw to complete a three-point play with just 2.3 seconds to give Gwynedd-Mercy an 88-87 comeback win over Wesley in an exciting Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Game Monday evening.

The sophomore gave the Griffins (8-6, 6-1 PAC) its first, and last lead, to help overcome a nine-point deficit with just over three minutes in regulation.

Wesley (5-8, 4-2 PAC) had four players in double figures led by Evan Martin's 21 points. Tyrell Brown added 19, Rashawn Johnson scored 18, and Daniel Henry netted 17.

Gwynedd-Mercy never led in the first half, as Cody White's three-pointer with 7:52 gave the Wolverines its biggest lead of the stanza at 31-17. GM whittled the hole down to 47-38 at halftime.

In the second half, everytime Gwynedd seemingly made a run, Wesley answered as the Wolverines kept a double-digit cushion throughout the period. Down 84-76 with 2:13, Wroten's tough bucket underneath and ensuing foul put the Griffins within just five.

Sophomore Jack Forth (Upper Merion, Pa./Upper Merion) tied the game 85-85 with 38 ticks left as his layin off a steal got the Gwynedd faithful to their feet. On next possession, Martin gave Wesley a brief 87-85 lead with his running layup, setting the stage for Wroten's heroics.

Senior Chris DelBrocco (Philadelphia, Pa./St. John Neumann) led Gwynedd with 23 points. Wroten and senior Corey Rich (Norristown, Pa./Kennedy-Kenrick) each finished with 17. Wroten also pulled down seven boards, blocked a shot and had three steals.

The Griffins shot 62.1% in the second half en route to a 56.7% (34-of-60) performance for the evening. Wesley was red-hot, hitting 64.2% (34-of-53) including 11 treys.

Gwynedd will play at Cabrini this Thursday in Radnor with an 8 p.m. start.
