Griffins' late heroics lead to league victory
in home opener

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. - Jack Forth (Upper Merion,
Pa./Upper Merion) completed a big three-point play with 17 seconds
left to put Gwynedd-Mercy into the lead where they rallied to defeat
Misericordia, 70-66, in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action
Saturday afternoon at the Griffin Complex.
With his team down 66-65, Forth drove along the
left baseline where he weaved through two defenders and kissed a
shot off the glass to draw a foul sending the home crowd into a
frenzy. The sophomore finished with 12 points as the Griffins overcame
a double-digit deficit in the first half.
Senior Corey Rich (Norristown, Pa./Kennedy-Kenrick)
led GM with 17 points while Chris DelBrocco (Philadelphia,
Pa./St. John Neumann) notched his first double-double of the season
registering 10 points and 10 boards.
Ryan Roa and Vinny Baumunk led the Cougars (3-3,
1-1 PAC) with 11 points each as a 14-of-25 (56%) shooting clip helped
Misericordia lead by as much as 31-15. Gwynedd whittled the lead
to 38-31 at the half using a 15-7 run to close the stanza.
Rich's three-pointer early in the second half capped
a 12-2 run to give the Griffins (3-1, 2-0 PAC) their first lead
of the game. The Cougars' Roa nailed a trey with 7:58 left giving
CM a seven-point edge.
Gwynedd hit on 26-of-56 (46%) for the game and held
a 37-33 rebound edge.
The Griffins are back at it on Monday as they travel
to Marywood for a PAC tilt starting at 8 p.m.
