Griffins improve to 7-1 in league play

RADNOR, PA. - Gwynedd-Mercy ran off its fifth-straight win with an 84-71 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference victory over Cabrini Thursday evening.

Senior Rashid Santiago (Allentown, Pa./The George School) and sophomore Haven Wroten (Philadelphia, Pa./Prep Charter) each netted 16 points respectively while Jack Forth (Upper Merion, Pa./Upper Merion) added 13 and David Smith (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Twp.) chipped in 12.

The Griffins (9-6, 7-1 PAC) led by as much as 17 points in the first half before the Cavs scored the last five points of the stanza to trail 42-32 at the half.

Gwynedd then saw Cabrini (1-13, 0-7 PAC) use a 9-2 run to open the second period to cut the lead. Matt Walsh hit a three-pointer for the Cavs to make it a 49-46 game with 13:57 left in the game.

Over the next five minutes, the Griffins put the game away courtesy of a 20-7 run capped by one of Forth's three treys on the night.

Randy Reid led all scorers with 20 points while Walsh finished with 16.

Wroten and junior Tom Keenan (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) pulled own seven rebounds apiece as GM had a 44-36 edge on the glass.

The Griffins will host Eastern in a PAC contest this Monday at 8 p.m.
