Griffins' shooting, rebounding woes lead to PAC loss

GYWNEDD VALLEY, PA. - Gwynedd-Mercy shot a season-low 32.7% and was scoreless in an eight minute span to start the second half as Arcadia prevailed in a 71-48 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference game Saturday afternoon.

The Knights' Dave Boettcher scored 17 of his game-high 27 points in the first stanza as Arcadia also outrebounded the Griffins, 41-23. Boettcher also pulled down 11 caroms.

Senior Chris DelBrocco (Philadelphia, Pa./St. John Neumann) led Gwynedd with 14 points and Rashid Santiago (Allentown, Pa./George School) chipped in seven points, six boards, four steals, and three assists.

Arcadia led 35-24 at the break but outscored GM 10-0 over an eight minute span to start the second half to build their lead to 21. DelBrocco's driving layup with 12:23 gave the Griffins its first points of the stanza.

Gwynedd (10-8, 8-3 PAC) got it within nine at 54-45 with 4:48 left, as DelBrocco hit two free throws after an AU technical, but the Knights (7-11, 5-6 PAC) scored the next five points to restore a double-digit lead for the rest of the game.

GM hit just 19-of-55 from the floor including 4-of-18 from downtown. Arcadia shot 24-of-51 (47.1%) for the game.

The Griffins close out their four-game homestand on Monday as they host last season's PAC Champion Alvernia here at the Griffin Complex at 8 p.m.
