BOYERTOWN, PA - Gwynedd-Mercy forced the deciding
game in the 2007 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Tournament with
a 10-1 win over Wesley in game six.
Game seven will feature a winner-take-all for the
championship and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division
III Tournament.
Sophomore Ryan McNamara allowed just one
hit over eight innings, striking out six and freshman Albert
DiDomenico was a homerun shy of the cycle in the win.
The Griffins broke open a 2-1 game with three runs
in the sixth capped by Tim Hoban's two-run single.
Three more runs scored in the seventh on a pair
of RBI doubles from Mark Mattes and Tim McMenamin along
with a run-scoring single off the bat of Chris Corkery for
an 8-1 lead.
It was more than enough for McNamara, who retired
15 of 17 batters at one point.
Cody Pigeon and Shane Mitchell recorded the hits
for the Wolverines (29-12).
Corkery and McMenamin each had two hits and two
RBIs for the Griffins (29-10).
