The loss eliminates the Lions while the Griffins

The Griffins exploded for a seven-run second inning
using just three hits and an error. Anthony Capella (Philadelphia/Roman
Catholic) started the scoring with a two-run double and Tim McMenamin
(Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) later added a two-run single
with two outs.

shot to left capped a four-run third to whittle the lead down to

Jeff Toth led off the fourth with a homerun to left
slicing the Griffin lead to just one run. After Matt Daley (Philadelphia/Roman
Catholic) entered in relief on just two-days rest for starter Sean
Middleton (Perkasie, Pa./Lansdale Catholic), the senior got
out of a bases loaded jam in the inning getting the Lions' Matt
Zodie to line into a double play.
Gwynedd looked to score again in the fifth as Ken
Bengtson (Jamison, Pa,/C.B. East) had as the bases full with
two outs but flied out to right
Nick DiEnno (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan)
gave the Griffins some breathing room in the sixth with a big two-out,
two-run homer to left, upping the lead to 9-6.
From there Daley, who earned the win, settled in
and allowed just two baserunners the rest of the way.
