Griffins fall to Lions

EWING, N.J. - Gwynedd-Mercy fell 14-7, to 13th-ranked College of New Jersey in non-league action Wednesday.

Sophomore Mark Mattes (Doylestown, Pa./C.B. East) led the Griffins with three hits and three RBIs, including a double and a triple. Tim McMenamin (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo homerun in the eight for Gwynedd (8-3)

The Lions scored once in the first and three in the second and after the Griffins got one on the board in the fourth, TCNJ plated four more in the fourth, to go up 8-1 taking advantage of two GM errors.

P.J. Anzelone knocked in five runs including a three-run homerun in the sixth for TCNJ (10-4).

Gwynedd-Mercy welcomes Alvernia on Friday to open a weekend league series here with a single game slated for 3 p.m.
