Mattes named to all-area acadmic team
Second Griffin to receive honor from Philadelphia

GYWNEDD VALLEY, PA. - Junior infielder Mark Mattes
(Doylestown, Pa./C.B. East) was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer
Academic All-Area Baseball Team. The squads are voted on by the
sports information offices of the 28 area Division I, II, and III
institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
On the field, Mattes, was a Pennsylvania Athletic
Conference First-Team selection and was an American Baseball Coaches
Association (ABCA) Second-Team All Mid-Atlantic Region pick. The
junior led the Griffins in hits, runs, and stolen bases.
In the classroom, the Business Administration major
boasts a 3.7 grade point average.
Mattes is the second Griffin this academic year to earn the honor.
Rashid Santiago was named to the men's basketball all-area team
back in March.
