Griffins break out bats in PAC win

SCRANTON, PA - Gwynedd-Mercy pounded out 16 hits en route to a 15-1 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference win over Marywood Sunday afternoon.

The Griffins added home runs from seniors Angel Burgos (Buffalo, N.Y./Lackawanna), Matt Martin (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X) and Anthony Capella (Philadephia/Roman Catholic) as GM plated three runs in the second and seven in the third to take a commanding 10-0 lead.

In all, six Griffins had two or more hits.

Starter Kevin Dronson (Haddonfield, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) picked up the win, striking out five over six innings of work with one walk and just one earned run.

Gwynedd (10-5, 4-3 PAC) plays again on Tuesday at Rowan in a non-league game starting at 3 p.m.
