DOVER, DE. - In game two of Saturday's doubleheader
at Wesley, senior outfielder Anthony Capella (Philadelphia/Roman
Catholic) became the Gwynedd-Mercy College baseball program's all-time
hit leader, going 1-for-3, to record his 189th career hit.
Capella's single in the fourth inning vaulted him
over former Roman Catholic alum and Griffin great John Drozdowski,
who set the record himself ironically against Wesley back in April
of 2005.
In the nine-year history of the baseball program
here at Gwynedd-Mercy, Capella ranks in the top five of many of
the career offensive categories. He is the all-time leader in RBIs,
triples, and is currently tied with Drozdowski for the most doubles.
He also holds single-season records for doubles and triples.
