Box Score

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. - Junior Anthony Capella (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) had an RBI double and RBI triple and freshman Sean Middleton (Perkasie, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) pitched five innings of one-hit baseball to help lift to a Gwynedd-Mercy 14-6 non-league win over Scranton on Wednesday.

Capella went 2-for-3 while freshman Ken Bengtson (Jamison, Pa./C.B. East) scored three runs going 2-for-4.

Middleton struck out five, walked only one batter, and allowed two unearned runs to pick up his second win on the year.

The Griffins (14-9) plated three in the first highlighted by Capella's RBI triple. In the fifth sophomore Angel Burgos (Buffalo, N.Y./Lackawanna) drove in a run on a double and would later score as part of another three-run frame.

It was 9-2 in the sixth before four runs in the bottom of the inning helped open up a 13-2 GM lead.

The Royals (7-10) would take advantage of three Griffin errors in the seventh to score four runs. Scranton's Mike Graziano was 1-for-5 with two runs scored.

Gwynedd-Mercy will host Neumann here on Friday, April 7th in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference game starting at 3 p.m.
