Thomas earns national
player of the week honors
Junior notches no-hitter to help playoff-bound Griffins
GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. - Josh Thomas (Severn,
Md./Cardinal Gibbons) was named the National Collegiate Baseball
Writers Association's (NCBWA) NCAA Division III National Pitcher
of the Week for games of April 24-30.
The right-hander tossed the second no-hitter in
GMC history in a 16-0 win over Marywood University on Saturday April
29th. In a seven-inning complete game, Thomas struck out a season-high
six and allowed just two batters to reach base, one on a walk and
one on an error. He joined junior Matt Daley in throwing a no-hitter
for the Griffins this season.
This is the second honor Thomas has picked up this
week after being named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Pitcher
of the Week on Monday.
The Griffins (29-11) take on Alvernia in the first
game of the 2006 PAC Tournament tomorrow at 3 p.m.
