GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. - Sophomore Mark Mattes (Doylestown,
Pa./C.B. East) drove in two runs, and freshman Ken Bengtson (Jamison,
Pa./C.B. East) had three hits to lead Gwynedd-Mercy to a 9-4 non-league
win over visiting Muhlenberg Tuesday afternoon.
Freshman Tim Hoban (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman
Catholic) went 1-for-3 with three runs scored while Mattes and junior
Matt Martin (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X) added two hits apiece
as the Griffins (23-11) jumped out to a 5-1 lead after two innings.
Junior Joe Harris (Norristown, Pa./Kennedy-Kenrick)
got the win after throwing four innings of no-hit baseball.
Eric Hammond and Mike Hart each had a double for
the Mules (15-16-1), who have won just once in their last nine contests.
Gwynedd travels to Dallas, Pa. tomorrow for a makeup
Pennsylvania Athletic Conference doubleheader with Misericordia
starting at 1 p.m.
