GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. - Gwynedd-Mercy pounded out
21 hits in a 20-6 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference win over Misericordia
Friday afternoon.
Senior Troy Peiffer (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford)
led the offensive attack, going 4-for-4 with four runs and four
RBIs. Freshman Nick DiEnno (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic)
added a three-run home run
The Griffins (22-11, 13-3 PAC) answered a 1-0 first-inning
deficit with a five run frame and later crossed four runs in the
third to take a commanding 9-1 lead.
Sophomore Angel Burgos (Buffalo, N.Y./Lackawanna)
smacked a lead off home run in the seventh to help spark another
big inning. Freshman J.R. Baumgardner (Eagleville, Pa./Methacton)
added an RBI single and DiEnno cranked a three-run shot for a five-run
frame. Burgos added a double while Baumgardner had two hits and
drove in three on the day.
Freshman Tim McMenamin (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple
Shade) earned the win, scattering one run on five hits over five
innings of work.
Shane Pagnotti and Jerry Reed each added two hits
apiece for the Cougars (3-27, 2-15 PAC).
The two teams meet again tomorrow in a doubleheader
in Dallas, Pa. starting at noon.
