Coach Paul Murphy notches 200th career victory

BOYERTOWN, PA. - Griffin Head Coach Paul Murphy
and the Gwynedd-Mercy College Baseball program earned its 200th
victory as Gwynedd-Mercy defeated Arcadia, 12-4, in the consolation
bracket to stay alive in the 2006 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference
Tournament.

Troy Peiffer join head coach Paul Murphy in the win over
Arcadia. Thomas tied a GM single-season mark with his eighth
win on the year while Peiffer collected his 200th collegiate
hit as the baseball program and Coach Murphy won its 200th game.

The Griffins knock out the Knights and advance to
tomorrow's title game against Alvernia in a rematch of last year's
championship.
Josh Thomas (Severn, Md./Cardinal Gibbons)
threw eight scoreless innings while striking out three and walking
just two earning the win. The junior tied a single-season school
record with his eighth win on the year.
Sophomore Chris Corkery (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman
Catholic) delivered a two-run single in the third as part of a four
run frame.
Two more runs crossed in the sixth and seventh while
the Griffins batted around in the eighth to plate four more runs
for a commanding 12-0 lead.
Senior Troy Peiffer (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford),
junior Anthony Capella (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic),
sophomore Mark Mattes (Doylestown, Pa./C.B. East) and freshman
Tim Hoban (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) all had three
hits apiece with Peiffer collecting his 200th collegiate hit.
Brandon Mazzie was the lone bright spot for Arcadia,
hitting a grand slam in the ninth.
Murphy, in his eighth season at the helm, now has
a career mark of 200-133-1
