Tierney earns PAC and ECAC weekly honors
Junior cited for outstanding play
ASTON, PA. -- Junior Karen Tierney (Philadelphia/Kennedy-Kenrick)
was honored by the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) as its
player of the week and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC)
with a spot on its honor roll for February 12th.
Tierney averaged 16.3 points, 5.0 assists, 1.7 rebounds
and 1.3 steals for the Griffins in a 3-0 conference week. In three
games, Tierney shot 56% (17-of-30) from the floor. The junior guard
led her team with 20 points in the road win at Alvernia last Monday.
She then followed that up with an 18-point, nine-assist performance
in the victory over Neumann and finally finished the week with 11
points vs. Arcadia. This was the second time this season that Tierney
has captured the weekly PAC honor.
The ECAC also named Tierney to its honor roll for
the South Region. This is the second time Gwynedd-Mercy was honored
by the ECAC. Senior Ashley Vandiver was named the South Region Player
of the Week back on December 19th.
