Three named to league's weekly award list
GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. - The Pennsylvania Athletic
Conference released its weekly player of the week and honor rolls
for the week of Sept. 19-25 and three Gwynedd-Mercy Student-Athletes
were highlighted.
Junior Janine Reiner (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford)
was named the PAC Field Hockey Player of the Week after the forward
scored five goals in a 2-1 week for the Griffins. Reiner scored
twice in a 4-3 loss to Eastern University, added the first goal
in a 9-0 win over Rosemont College, and then finished the week with
a pair of tallies in a 4-2 win over Marywood University.
Freshman Brett Bryan (Philadelphia, Pa./North
Catholic) was selected for the PAC Men's Soccer Honor Roll after
he scored two goals in three games for the Griffins. Bryan's first
goal of the week came with 2:28 in regulation to help Gwynedd to
a 2-1 win over Villa Julie. He added another score, his team-leading
third on the season, in Saturday's 3-0 win over Delaware Valley.
And in Women's Tennis, freshman Caitlin Haman
(Philadelphia, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) was awarded a spot
on the honor roll after winning three matches and helping her squad
to three victories last week. Haman notched a 2-0 record at #6 singles
and 1-0 at #1 doubles last week.
