Thomas, Bengtson sweep weekly baseball awards
Thomas takes pitcher honor, Bengtson hitter
GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. - Junior Josh Thomas (Severn,
Md./Cardinal Gibbons) and freshman Ken Bengtson (Jamison,
Pa./C.B. East) were named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Baseball
Players of the Week for the week ending April 30th.
Thomas was named the PAC Pitcher of the Week after
he tossed his first no-hitter and the second in the program's history
last Saturday, April 29th in a 16-0 win at Misericordia. The junior
stuck out six and allowed just two batters to reach base, one on
a walk and one on an error in seven innings of work. He joins junior
Matt Daley this season in throwing a no-hitter for the Griffins.
Bengtson notched the PAC Hitter of the Week after
he went .619 (13-for-21) at the plate, hitting safely in all six
games last week. The freshman added six runs scored, six stolen
bases, four RBIs, three walks, and a .667% slugging and .692% on-base
percentage. Additionally, he collected three hits each in three
games and did not strikeout in 21 at-bats.
