Daley, Mattes, and Volz honored in weekly awards
Daley, Mattes honored in baseball, Volz in lacrosse
GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. - Junior Matt Daley (Philadelphia,
Pa./Roman Catholic) and sophomores Mark Mattes (Doylestown,
Pa./C.B. East) and Meghan Volz (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop
Wood) were named to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference weekly
honorable mention lists.
Daley earned a spot on the baseball pitching list
for his performance last week. The junior tossed a complete game
in a 4-2 win over Alvernia in the first game of a doubleheader,
scattering seven hits and two runs over seven innings with four
strikeouts and no walks.
Mattes was named to the baseball hitting list after
he batted .467 with a double, four runs scored, four knocked in
and three stolen bases. Currently, the sophomore leads the team
in hits (31) and stolen bases (11).
Volz netted nine goals and added three assists in
three games to earn a spot on the women's lacrosse honorable mention
list. She leads the squad with 19 goals on the season.
