Capella, Volz selected weekly honorable
mention list
First weekly spring awards announced
GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. - Junior Anthony Capella
(Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) and sophomore Meghan Volz
(Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) were named to the Pennsylvania
Athletic Conference Weekly Honorable Mention list for the week ending
March 12th.
Capella started off the 2006 baseball season on
a tear, hitting .464 with three triples, 10 runs scored and seven
RBI. He also stole one base and registered an .826 slugging pct.
In the first of five games in Florida on the team's spring trip,
he went 4-for-5 with two triples, four RBI’s, and five runs
against SUNY-Farmingdale. He then collected four hits against Curry,
with two runs knocked in. Capella added his third triple of the
week going 3-for-6 with three runs scored against Robert Morris
(Ill.).
Volz, the 2005 PAC Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the
Year, started off 2006 notching four goals and three assists in
two games down in Florida last week. Against Haverford, she scored
twice and helped set up to others in an 11-9 loss to the Fords.
And against Neumann, the sophomore netted two goals with an assist
in a close 10-7 loss to the Knights.
