Chiarantona named PAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. - Senior Jillian Chiarantona (Abington, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of December 5-11.

The 5-8 guard averaged 16.5 points, seven rebounds, and three assists in a 2-0 week to help her team extend their win streak to five games. Against Misericordia last Monday, she was two boards shy of a double-double, netting a game-high 18 points, including five three-pointers, and adding four assists. And in the 73-63 win over King's on Wednesday, she scored 15 points, all of which came in the second half, and grabbed six rebounds.

Senior Francis Bowe (Phoenixville, Pa./St. Pius X) was selected for the PAC Men's Basketball Honorable Mention List after averaging 22.5 ppg in two games last week including a career-high 37 points to help the Griffins to a 93-83 victory over Delaware Valley last Thursday. The 6-2 guard added six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. On Monday, he chipped in eight points and two boards in a tough eight-point loss to Misericordia.

The women's team hosts McDaniel this coming Saturday, December 17th at 2 p.m. while the men's team plays at Division II University of the Sciences on Tuesday, December 20th. It will be the last games for both teams before the holiday break.
